Remote work gives us the location independence to explore new and beautiful places. But, this freedom often times comes with a feeling of isolation. A study by Harvard Business School (HBS) of 1,100 employees found that remote workers feel shunned and left out. This study showed that a lack of close contact with people inhibits the formation of trust, connection, and mutual purpose — three ingredients of a healthy social system. While managers may be tempted to respond to these findings by ending remote work programs and bringing everyone back to the office, we do not recommend that. Instead, they should encourage habits that lead to feelings of trust, connection, and shared purpose. Want to learn habits and skills to increase your success as a remote leader? To keep your team members engaged, connected, and thriving? Join us at Remote Work Summit 2018 and uplevel your leadership, elevate your team, and stand out from the crowd! “We all live under the same sky, but we don’t all have the same horizon”. One of the best parts about being a digital nomad is traveling the world and meeting new people from all walks of life and immersing ourselves in different cultures. Everyone has a different journey, a different path, but we’re all living in this world together. Be understanding and willing to learn as much as you can. You won’t regret it.
